H.E. Hillary Rodham Clinton has dedicated over four decades to public service as U.S. Secretary of State, U.S. Senator from New York, and First Lady of the United States. Secretary Clinton was the first woman to win a presidential nomination by a major U.S. political party. Secretary Clinton is a lifelong advocate for women and girls and the Honorary Founding Chair of the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security. During her tenure as Secretary of State, Clinton launched the U.S. National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security at Georgetown University in 2011, at which time she also announced the creation of the Institute.
