In 2022 the IPCC called out climate disinformation for the first time, noting a “deliberate undermining of science” was contributing to “misperceptions of the scientific consensus, uncertainty, disregarded risk and urgency, and dissent.” In this panel, we will explore the role that communications can play in driving climate action, drawing on learnings from Verified, a Rockefeller Foundation funded initiative launched by the UN and Purpose at the onset of the pandemic to help communities around the world access information and make informed decisions to protect themselves from Covid-19.
